The Southwest Community Center (SWCC) seeks a Development Director to be responsible for management of all fundraising activities. The Development Director is an integral position for SWCC with oversight of all fundraising, including annual fund, major and planned gifts, grants and several annual events. This position provides an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual. The Development Director will work closely with the Executive Director, members of the Board of Trustees, volunteers, donors, and the greater SWCC community.


The Development Director’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Actively support the SWCC mission and vision.

Create and execute an annual fundraising plan.

Support the SWCC Board of Trustees, staff and volunteers with donor
development and fundraising.

Secure financial support from individuals, foundations and businesses.

Steward ongoing relationships with donors and key stakeholders.

Cultivate new relationships beneficial to the Center.

Organize the annual Gala, Harvest Banquet and other fundraising events.

Work with other staff, board members and volunteers in developing printed and
online materials for donor relations and cultivation.

Create marketing materials and social media and advertising campaigns as part of
a public relations strategy.

Manage vendor and independent contractor relationships related to development.

Solicit and steward major and planned gifts.

Perform related duties as assigned.


A minimum of two years of professional development experience.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Professional demeanor.

Demonstrated ability to work independently.

Experience working with diverse communities and an ability to demonstrate
cultural sensitivity.

Personal enthusiasm, optimism and sense of humor.

Experience working with a variety of word processing, spreadsheet and donor
database software.

Based on a dream she had in 1971, Annie Mae Tripp began her ministry to the poor in Orange County through the Southwest Community Center.
